Book a Meerkat Encounter with the friendly Mob at S.O.S.

It’s great fun to make an up-close-&-personal walk on the wild side with The Mob during a Meerkats Encounter, where you will spend time inside their enclosure discovering all about these fascinating creatures with one of our trained handlers. Held daily at 10.30am seven days a week, each encounter lasts for approx. 20 minutes. Encounters are restricted to a maximum of 6 people aged 8 & over.

To book a Meerkat Encounter as part of your visit to S.O.S. it is necessary to book your general Admission Ticket and Encounter Pass at the same time. Please call us in advance on 03456 807 897/option 3 and we will arrange your booking for you. The cost per encounter per person is £30.00 plus the price of admission - spectators are welcome at no charge but they are not allowed into the meerkat enclosure. You may be able to book an Encounter on the day if spaces are available - please ask at reception at the start of your visit.

Please Note

Participants in our Meerkat Encounters are advised that our troop are a very friendly and inquisitive bunch, but they have very scratchy claws! So, we suggest you wear clothing and footwear that covers arms and legs, and open-toed sandals are not a good idea - meerkats are great toe-nibblers! Meerkat Encounters are not advised for women in pregnancy and please note that parents are responsible for the care and good behaviour of their children.

If you have made a booking in advance, please call ahead on 03456 807 897 / option 3 the day before your walk on the wild side to confirm the appointment will go ahead in the event of bad weather being forecast.

Safeguarding of young participants in Meerkat Encounters

As we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children whilst they enjoy their Meerkat Encounter, youngsters under the age of 16 should be accompanied by a paying adult aged 18 and over who is responsible for their care & behaviour during the encounter as part of our safeguarding policy.
