A surge of bad weather means that we have recently had an influx of casualties admitted to our on-site raptor hospital here at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary.
This particular kestrel came to us after being discovered flightless, in the middle of a ploughed field.
Upon initial investigation he was found to be suffering from a swelling of the wing and head, which required some remedial care. It was later discovered that the area of injury was conducive with an attack from another animal, most likely another bird of prey, which had left soft tissue damage around the face and wing.
Hopefully with time and care this one will make a full recovery, however the extent of his injuries will not be clear until the swelling has receded.
